respect in the past.

Electrolysis

Jean Rochford Electrology
9510 Tioga
210-696-7374

Jean has been doing beard removal for a very long time.  She uses the RF method; not galvanic.  She has worked on many ‘girls’ and considers
some of us to be personal friends.  Jean has the experience to avoid scarring – a major concern when picking an electrologist.

Maryellen V Little
Audrey M. Little
18545 Sigma Road, Suite 110
210-454-9840
StoneOakPermanentHairRemoval.com

Maryellen and Audrey are a mother-daughter team of electrologists.  They are experienced with transgender MtF beard removal and quite
comfortable with our community.  In summer 2009, they came to a SAGA meeting and gave an informative multi-media presentation about
electrolysis to our members. They have a well developed website explaining their services.

Auto and Home Insurance

State Farm Insurance, Donnie Britt Agency
6324 NW Loop 410
210-647-1174

One of our married members has automobiles and home insured there.  The husband’s transition caused no problems with retaining coverage
and everyone in the office is respectful of what now appears to be a same-sex couple.  Employees of State Farm have transsexual surgery
insurance benefits provided by their company.

Dining

Candlelight Coffeehouse
3011 N. St, Mary’s
210-738-0099

An LGBT family-friendly restaurant and bar.  Quiet, relaxing, great food at reasonable prices. Get to know Mark, Leo, and Sylvia.  Take your meal
at a table or couch in the main room or dine on the patio.  Grab a board game to play while enjoying drinks.  Even LGBT-accepting straight folks
and families go there for the ambiance and the food.

Luthers Cafe

Located on North Main Street in the gay bar district, this eating establishment is open to the street and provides a non-threatening athmosphere
for those hesitant to venture into this area.  Indeed, you will often find local families with their children eating there.  All are welcome.  The food is
good.  Karioke is usually available in the evenings.  Many of the waiter staff are also drag queens at the clubs and they put on a show most
Monday nights.

Transgender Therapy

Darrell Parsons, LCSW, Psychotherapist
8535 Wurzbach Rd.,  Suite 203
210-827-1517

The office building is near the corner of Fredricksburg Rd.  It is hard to see from Wurzbach.  Allow extra time to find the building the first time you
visit.  It is easiest to find  by driving behind the Kwik Kar Lube shop.

Darrel is quite familiar with LGBT issues.  He is also President of the newly-formed GLBT Chamber of Commerce.
He takes most major insurance plans and offers an affordable sliding scale based on income for those without insurance.  If you have any
questions, please do not hesitate to call.  He looks forward to being of service to the Transgender community
