San Antonio Gender Association
Who We Are
We are transgender, transsexual and intersexed persons:
We are employed, unemployed, under-employed, looking for a better job, or retired.
We are married, or we're dating, or we're looking for that special somebody to share a life with.
We are college educated and high school dropouts; employed, unemployed, or searching for a better job.
We like sports, music, dancing, movies, parties, television, reading, games and surfing the web.
We are Republicans, Democrats, and Independents; Jews and Gentiles; black, brown, yellow, white, red and any
hue in between.
We have histories and futures, failures and accomplishments, hopes and dreams ---just like you do.
Transgender persons have hidden in the shadows far too long. But
the sun is starting to shine upon us. The American public is quickly
learning that there is nothing to fear from the transgender community;
learning that our lives are just like everyone else's except for being so
very uncomfortable in our bodies. As more and more of our
transgender brothers and sisters learn that they can be accepted in
their communities for their personalties, their abilities, and their
contributions to the community, you are going to see more and more of
us out in public and open about our lives. As our visible numbers
swell, we are becoming a force to be reckoned with.

SOME OF
OUR
MEMBERS
SAGA members have served in the past on committees of HRC San Antonio and HRC National. In 2008,
members are on the board of San Antonio Stonewall Democrats and the San Antonio Gay Chamber of
Commerce. Other members have traveled to Austin and to Capital Hill in Washington, DC to lobby for
transgender inclusive legislation. Three of our members, Antonia, Ruby, and Julia were elected as delegates
from their individual voting precincts and served as delegates to the Texas State Democratic Convention in
June, 2008. Ruby is a candidate for City Council, District 1, in 2009.
